    Cyclone Tauktae has killed at least 25 people in Gujarat and Maharashtra. While the cyclone killed 13 people in Gujarat, it killed 12 people in Maharashtra.

The vessel, designated as P305, was carrying 273 people, 146 of whom were rescued until Tuesday morning. As many as 81 people are still missing, and the Navy is conducting a search and rescue operation.

    At 11.30 p.m. on Tuesday, the India Meteorological Department said that the cyclone was moving north-northeastwards and was centred over Gujarat, about 110 kilometres north of Ahmedabad. The cyclone is expected to weaken into a “depression” in the next six hours, according to the weather forecasting department.

    At least 24 people were killed in the aftermath of Cyclone Tauktae, which wreaked havoc on several states along India’s western coast. In Maharashtra, twelve people died, while eight people died in Karnataka and four people died in Gujarat.

    The Covid-19 vaccination drive in Gujarat has been halted due to the Cyclone Taukte situation, according to the Gujarat chief minister’s office, and will resume on May 20.
